| Groups Holy Resurrection Church School The Holy Resurrection Church School was organized in the late 1940’s and is presently under the supervision of Mary Bahney. Classes meet from 9:30 to 10:00 AM Sunday mornings from September to June. Special events include an annual pool party, an opening day picnic, an annual overnight party, annual St. Sava day program as well as other programs, Church School confession and communion programs during the Great Fast and Advent, and recognition of graduates, students and teachers at the end of year awards program. Vacation Church School and a camp out at the Picnic Grounds are summer activities. There is also a program of adult education, with classes held in conjunction with a weekday vesper service once or twice a month. Circles of Serbian Sisters women’s organizations The KSS Sveta Petka of Steubenville-Mingo Junction holds a luncheon meeting at 11:30 AM the first Thursday of the month in various locations. The current president is Millicent Santilli. The KSS Vidovdan of Weirton holds a luncheon meeting at noon the second Thursday of the month at the Serbian-American Cultural Center. Both women’s service organizations help by working at various congregation events and in charitable and service projects. Holy Resurrection Men’s Club The Men’s Club meets the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm, with warm weather meetings at the Picnic Grounds and other meetings at the Serbian-American Cultural Center. The Men’s Club has as it major project the upkeep, development and operation of the Church’s picnic grounds in Weirton, WV. Ted Zatezalo is currently president. Holy Resurrection Tamburitzans The Holy Resurrection Tammies is made up of parish children from pre-school through High School who work throughout the school year to learn the music and dance of the Serbian people. A concert and dinner-dance is presented each year in May to show the past year’s accomplishments, and the Tammies also make guest appearances in other venues. Denise Stewart is instrumental director and choreographer however there are many others that help out. Margaret Zapor is the current president. 4-C’ers Parents Group The Church’s 4-C’ers is the Church School’s parent-teacher organization. The group raises money in various ways to assist with sending parish children to the diocesan St. Sava Camp Shadeland in the summer, providing for parties and other children’s activities through the year, and helping out where needed. Milena Karas heads this group. Serbian-American Benevolent Society The Benevolent Society is the second newest of Holy Resurrection Church’s affiliated organizations. The Society seeks to give aid to charitable causes through fund raising and other efforts. Jennifer Kosanovich is president. Holy Resurrection Teen Group The Holy Resurrection Teen Group was organized in 2001 to bring the teenaged members of the Church together for fellowship and service to the Church and community. The teens have worked at various parish events and have done renovation work on homes, helped with landscaping and clean-up around the Church, and helped with the annual Christmas decorating. They have also taken several social trips. Mary Bahney serves as advisor, and Michael Merick is the current president. Serbian-American Cultural Center The Serbian-American Cultural Center was built in 1997 by the Holy Resurrection Church to serve as a gathering place for church social and educational activities, and occasional community worship services. Located at 1000 Colliers Way in Weirton, WV, just over a mile south of US Route 22, the Cultural Center is the area’s premiere banquet, catering and meeting facility, and is available to the public. Amenities include an elegant banquet room seating up to 650, which can be divided for smaller groups; the large multi-purpose Garden Room for all kinds of parties and events; a reception and meeting room for small groups; and Tesla’s Lounge which provides a venue for informal dining and parties. Walk- in dining opportunities for the public include Wednesday and Thursday evening dinners, Friday Fish Fries, and an elegant and bountiful Sunday Brunch.
